New Cheap Modern DIY Dollar Tree Fall Decorations For 2023

Updated: Nov 2, 2023

I feel like every year I’m trying to find a way to upgrade and reimagine the Dollar Tree foam pumpkins. Today I’m creating a heart shaped concrete bowl and Terrazzo look printed pumpkins. I’m loving this muted and colorful home decor for the fall season. This decor has texture and pops of color which makes for some unique fall decor. This decor is the perfect statement decor to highlight on a table top. Keep reading to see how I used materials from dollar store to create this upgraded fall decor!

Concrete Heart Bowl

Materials:

Step 1: Spread on a thin layer of concrete patch to cover the entire bottom of the plastic heart bowl.

Step 2: Allow the concrete to fully dry and harden.

Step 3: Cover the inside of the bowl with a thin layer of concrete patch as well.

Step 4: Give the concrete time to completely dry.

Step 5: Review the bowl and make sure that there are not any cracks on the bottom or top of the bowl. Fill any cracks with additional concrete and add another thin layer of concrete if any of the plastic bowl is visible.

Terrazzo Look Pumpkins

Materials:

  • Foam Pumpkins

  • Sponge Brush

  • White Chalk Paint

  • Multi Paper Options (Tissue Paper/Wrapping Paper)

  • Mod Podge

  • Scissors

  • Acrylic Paint

Step 1: Completely coat the foam pumpkins in white chalk paint.

Step 2: Allow the pumpkin to dry after about two coats of white chalk paint.

Step 3: Remove the stems.

Step 4: Reach for some colors of tissue paper or other paper that you want to use for the pumpkin.

Step 5: Paint the stems of the pumpkins using black acrylic paint. Tip: I usually reach for chalk paint for white and black colors because it requires less coats.

Step 6: Cut several random harsh shapes out of the tissue paper.

Step 7: Use Mod Podge to adhere the shapes randomly to the pumpkin.

Step 8: Allow layers to dry. Add more layers of shapes and color using some acrylic paint. (I dotted on paint colors for a speckle look and created shapes using black acrylic paint).

So, what are your thoughts? Could you see this decor in your space? I was happily surprised how this turned out. The concrete bowl didn't get as rock hard as I expected, but it still looks like sophisticated decor! Comment and come say hi. Tag me @Craftingwithcass on Instagram if you decide to create your own!
