How to Create Budget-Friendly Back to School Supplies with Dollar Tree DIYs

Today I'm Transforming and enhancing certain back-to-school items from the dollar store. I am crafting adorable school accessories suitable for all ages. This presents an excellent opportunity to personalize back-to-school supplies affordably. These are clever dollar store back-to-school hacks you'll love! Look below to see how each piece is made!

Personalized Lunch Box


Materials:

Step 1: Grab a basic lunch box from the dollar store.

Step 2: Create an image using Canva and remove the background.


Step 3: Upload the png image to Design Space on Cricut.

Step 4: Follow the steps on the screen to "print then cut" the image. Send the image to an inkjet printer.


Step 5: Then, place the paper image on a cutting mat, to be cut with the Cricut.

Step 6: Place the image in the center of the lunch box.

Step 7: Iron on the image.

Personalized Pencil Case



Materials:

  • Basic Lunch Box

  • Permanent Holographic Vinyl

  • Cricut

  • Transfer Tape

Step 1: Reach for a basic pencil case from the dollar store.

Step 2: Choose your font and type the personalized name, you will be using in Cricut's Design Space.


Step 3: Measure the front space of pencil case you want to place the name. Use that measurement to create your font size.

Step 4: "make" it.

Step 5: Follow the steps on your screen and select the vinyl material.

Step 6: Load the permanent vinyl on the mat. Use the Cricut to cut the text.

Step 7: Weed the vinyl text.

Step 8: Use transfer tape to transfer the text from the mat.

Step 9: Use the transfer tape to stick the text onto the pencil case.

DIY Monogram Back Pack


Materials:

  • Basic Book Bag

  • Iron-On Vinyl

  • Iron or Heat Press

Step 1: Start with a basic book bag.

Step 2: Use Design Space to create a monogram text. I used the same file from this previous DIY here.


Step 3: Adjust the font to your desired size. Click "make".

Step 4: Mirror the image for this iron-on vinyl. Cut the monogram using the Cricut.

Step 5: Position and iron the monogram on the front of the bag.
