DIY Sherpa Slides Made with a Blanket

Updated: Sep 16, 2022

Transition your summer slides into fall with this easy and fashionable DIY! I merged an inexpensive blanket and some slides to create this chic footwear for fall. This is the perfect DIY for any slides that you may have considered trashing. The fun thing about these Sherpa slides is that you can make them whatever color you want. Look to see how to make!

What I Used:

  • Sherpa Blanket (Five Below has these for $5 and some change)

  • 1 Pair of Slides

  • Scissors

  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

How to Make It:

Step 1: Grab a blanket and a pair of slides.

Step 2: Take a hold of the perimeter of one side of the blanket.

Step 3: Visually measure and pull enough blanket material to cover over the entire base of the slide.

Step 4: Add glue to the slide starting with base edge of the slide. Then, continue to add glue to the slide in sections as you cover the entire inside base of the slide. (Smooth out the material as you are covering the slide).

Step 5: Then, cut a piece of the Sherpa blanket to use to cover the strap of the slide. (It's easy to hide any imperfections due to the fluffiness of the material).

Step 6: Trim the bottom base material of the slide that will be closest to the ground. Make sure that the sole is still flat and you can walk easily.

Step 7: Add glue to the strap and wrap the cut piece of blanket around the strap to cover it completely. (Use the existing holes on the strap as a guide to poke holes in the blanket material, if your slides have holes on the strap).

Step 8: Follow the same process for the remaining slide to complete the look.

That's all it is to it! What do you think? I was thinking it might also be cute to add some rhinestones as well to switch up the look. Try it out! Come say hi and tag me @Craftingwithcass on Instagram if you decide to create your own! Subscribe to the blog for everything DIY and NEW updates!
