DIY Upscale Fall Home Decor | Dollar Store Fall Decor 2022

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

I'm upgrading some dollar store and recycled materials! I'm using them to create some chic fall decor. The fall season is in full effect and I'm switching out my my decor for pumpkins and plaid! I created a cute crate and table centerpiece that's simple and festive. Keep reading to see everything I used and how I made each decor piece below!

Plaid Gather Crate

Materials:

  • Plaid Vinyl

  • Gather Sign

  • Cardboard

  • Frame

  • 2 Wood Pentagon Shaped Boxes

  • 2 Wood Crate Plank Pieces

  • Recycled Wrapping Paper Roll

  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Step 1: Grab the shadow box gather sign and detach the top.

Step 2: Replace the existing print inside the shadow box with some plaid vinyl print.

Step 3: Adhere the "gather" shadow box back together.

Step 4: Construct the crate by laying a frame with no glass insert as the base.

Step 5: Adhere the newly constructed gather sign to the front of the base.

Step 6: Adhere the other sides of the crate to the frame base.

Step 7: Cut to size and then adhere a cardboard wrapping paper roll on the top as a handle.

Plaid Pumpkin Decor

Materials:

  • Spanish Moss

  • Tray

  • Plaid Pumpkins (Mini and Large)

  • Black Acrylic Paint

Step 1: Grab a tray and paint it black if the tray you have is not already black. (I could only find a teal colored tray at the dollar store, so I painted it black to match better with the decor I was making).

Step 2: Adhere some Spanish moss to the bottom of the tray using some hot glue.

Step 3: Adhere some large and mini plaid pumpkins to the Spanish moss. (I lined up three larger pumpkins and then surrounded those with the smaller pumpkins).

I'm happy with how these pieces turned out! Easy, cute and chic fall decor! Try it out! Come say hi and tag me @Craftingwithcass on Instagram if you decide to create your own! Subscribe to the blog for everything DIY and NEW updates!
