Today I'm sharing how I created some dapper table top winter home decor accents using dollar store materials. I found some faux leather vinyl and word cut outs at the dollar store. I have been itching to incorporate these materials in a project. I paired faux leather materials and natural colored scheme materials to make some expensive looking home decor for dollar prices. This decor is perfect to keep displaying even after Christmas. It is definitely some chic winter decor that is great to have during the winter season. Follow below to see how everything was made!
Mini Black Basket Trees
Materials: (I was able to find these materials at the dollar store. Some materials are my everyday craft tools from my stash).
Woven Baskets
1 Pack Faux Leather Vinyl
Faux Leather Word CutOut
Mini Faux Christmas Tree
Burlap Mini Tree Skirt
Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Metallic Half Cut Beads
Step 1: Grab a small woven basket. Adhere the faux leather word cutout on the front of the basket.
Step 2: Cut a strip of faux leather material about 2-3 inches wide or desired length/width for the handles of the basket.
Step 3: Fold the faux leather strip and glue the two ends together.
Step 4: Follow step 2 and 3 again to make two handles and adhere them to the left and right side of the woven basket.
Step 5: Adhere a metallic half cut bead in the center of the handle on each side.
Step 6: Spray paint a white faux mini Christmas tree all black.
Step 7: Place the mini Christmas tree in the decorated basket. I added some recycled grocery bags around the tree base as addional filler.
Step 8: Cover the inside of the base and the basket using a mini tree skirt. I used some left over tree skirt scraps from a previous project.
Step 9: Follow the similar process of creating the handles to make bows to add to the top of each tree.
Faux Leather Joy Tag
Materials:
Step 1: Trace, cut and measure faux leather vinyl using the outline of the large chipboard gift tag.
Step 2: Add Mod Podge to the large chipboard gift tag and adhere the faux leather vinyl cutout on top.
Step 3: Adhere metal letters J-O-Y to the center of tag.
Step 4: Poke a hole thru the exising hole to create a hole thru the faux leather vinyl.
Step 5: String the initial string of the tag thru the hole.
Faux Leather Wood Decor Tray
Materials:
Two Wood Shadow Boxes
Faux Leather Vinyl
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Mod Podge (Optional)
Metallic Half Cut Beads
Step 1: Gather two pentagon-shaped shadow boxes.
Step 2: Cut faux leather vinyl to cover the bottom inside of each of the shadow boxes.
Step 3: Adhere the faux leather pieces inside each pentagon-shaped shadow box.
Step 4: Glue both the shadow boxes together.
Step 5: Cut a small strip of the faux leather vinyl to create a bow. Adhere one metallic half cut bead to the cener of the bow.
Step 6: Adhere the bow to the center front of the tray.
